Why we need WonderSpace
      It becomes efficient when researching meets collaboration. Tools were found to share files, exchange minds or make comments, but there still lacks a platform to fulfill the exact requirements rooted from a group of researchers who want to speed up their work and study. Besides, we want a platform which can give us a common language to describe what we have in order to exchange them with other groups.
What is WonderSpace
      WonderSpace is a Semantic Web application that serves as information integrating platform and knowledge sharing environment for research-oriented working groups of researchers, scholars, instructors and students.
      WonderSpace makes it more easy and efficient for people to do studying, researching, instructing, communicating, supervising and to do teamwork within a single working group or among multi working groups.
      The final goal of WonderSpace is to help creating and thriving a worldwide e-Science virtual organization.

Researchers
Status
      Before this project, our team has implement a prototype of WonderSpace - WOW(Web Ontology-based Weblog), which is a semantic blog using an extended RSS 1.0 as its metadata exchange formation. A simple ontology of computer science discipline classification was built according to ACM CCS, and users can use it to describe the topics information of their posts.
      Currently, WonderSpace version 0.2 has been released. We have just realized a small part of WonderSpace's dream. Users can express thoughts or annotate papers, presentation or other e-Science resources that is valuable to them, and then share them with the colleagues. The system now use an extended version of RSS 1.0 in resource sharing. We use C/S mode and a web service is constructed on the Service Side. On the client side, a RSS-Aggregator-like program was constructed based on RSSOWL - an open source project. Get RSSOwl At present we only provide a chinese version of readme file, and we will provide an English version as soon as possible.
Access to WonderSpace
WonderSpace Client 0.2 build has been released. You can download it from here. And please notice if you do not have a Java Runtime Environment(JRE), you should download this version of the program: here , which includes a standalone JRE. Feel free to contact us and tell us your suggestions or impression on WonderSpace.
Next Version of WonderSpace
      The next version of WonderSpace is based on the current one, but we will change the client application's name to "WonderDesk", which we think is more suitable for its nature of a semantic desktop. WonderDesk provides P2P capability and can manage or share e-Science resources in a distributed way. The code is completed and the application is under test now. We believe WonderDesk will be released before 1st. September, as well as the WonderServer, which serves as a "rendezvous" peer in a research group.
