Our paper entitled "Term dependence on the Semantic Web", authored by Gong Cheng and Yuzhong Qu, has been accepted by ISWC 2008.

Dr. Chengxiang Zhai, from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, visited IWS and gave a talk about "Web search and information retrieval: The state of the art".

Prof. Xiannong Meng, from Bucknell University, visited IWS and gave a presentation on "Web Search and Data Mining".

Our paper titled "Matching large ontologies: A divide-and-conquer approach", authored by Wei Hu, Yuzhong Qu and Gong Cheng, has been accepted by Data & Knowledge Engineering (Regular Paper).

Our paper titled "Falcon-AO: A practical ontology matching system", authored by Wei Hu and Yuzhong Qu, has been accepted by Journal of Web Semantics (System Paper).

Gong Cheng presented his paper Searching Semantic Web Objects Based on Class Hierarchies at WWW 2008 Workshop on Linked Data on the Web. He also demos his poster about the Falcons system at the poster session of WWW 2008.

Prof. Dr. Chris Bizer, from Freie Universität Berlin, visited IWS and introduced the Linked Open Data project.

Falcons Object Search now enables navigating class hierarchies for query refinement.

We will invite researchers in the community of Web science to participate in the Workshop on Web Science at Southeast University (WWS2007@SEU), to discuss the directions in the development of the next generation of the Web. Dr. Yuangui Lei, from KMi, visited IWS and presented the research at KMi.

Our paper Discovering simple mappings between relational database schemas and ontologies has been nominated for Best Paper Award at ISWC + ASWC 2007.

Falcons, a Semantic Web search engine, was launched by IWS. Falcons is a keyword-based search engine for Semantic Web entities. It enables searching concepts guided by recommended vocabularies, searching objects guided by recommended concepts, and browsing entity summarization via concept spaces.

We have started our summer vacation, and we will return to work on Aug. 13th.

IWS members attended SIGMOD/PODS 2007 held in Beijing.

Xiang Zhang presented his paper Ontology Summarization Based on RDF Sentence Graph at WWW2007.
